The Supreme Court recognized the legal refusal of Yashin, Rusakova and Yankauskas to register as candidates for the Moscow City Duma elections

The Supreme Court of Russia refused to register the head of the Krasnoselsky municipal district Ilya Yashin as a candidate for elections to the Moscow City Duma.

“The appeal of Yashin against the decision of the Moscow City Court was denied,” Interfax was told in the press service of the court. Similar complaints from other candidates, Elena Rusakova and Konstantin Yankauskas, were also rejected.

• Since mid-July, weekly protests (both agreed and not agreed) have been held in Moscow, the participants of which demand the admission of independent candidates to the elections. Most of the uncoordinated actions were accompanied by mass arrests. According to the White Counter, more than 60 thousand people came to the agreed action - on August 10 on Sakharov Avenue, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs - about 20 thousand.
• Electoral commissions withdrew independent candidates from the elections, pointing out that they provided too many invalid signatures in their support. The candidates themselves pointed to the opacity and bias of the checks, as a result of which the signatures were rejected.
