
The court in Cherepovets left unchanged the verdict to the head of the Vologda branch of the “For Human Rights” movement Grigory Winter. He received 280 hours of compulsory work for insulting the mayor and the head of Cherepovets in the social network. This was announced on August 27 by the United press service of the courts of the Vologda region.
In the appeal, Winter pointed out that the verdict against him was illegal, and violations were committed when considering the case. Which ones are not specified. He asked to cancel the court decision.
Winter and his lawyer appealed to the decision of the peace court, who in June 2019 found the human rights activist guilty that he insulted in VKontakte the head of Cherepovets Maria Gusev and the mayor of this city Elena Avdeeva. Winter criticized their work in 2017 and 2018, in particular, he was not satisfied with the cutting of forests in the Zveagurbsky district.
In addition to compulsory work, with Winter, the court recovered compensation for non -pecuniary damage Guseva and Avdeeva - 30 thousand rubles each. The sentence entered into force.

Winter is one of the activists opposing the cutting of coniferous forest in the Zveagogs district. In March 2018, unknown people attacked him with the words "for the forest." The human rights activist believes that the investigation of the case is not actually underway. In February 2019, Winter stated that he was threatened and wanted to be forcibly treated.
