Rospotrebnadzor found violations in 65 out of 66 shawarma sellers in Moscow, which the department's specialists checked after complaints from buyers.
Rospotrebnadzor said that sellers often prepared shawarma from meat and vegetables of unknown producers, violated expiration dates and storage conditions.
In about half of the cases, the finished shawarma did not meet the requirements for microbiological indicators. In addition, bacteria of the E. coli group were found in the staff and in the establishments themselves.
34 establishments were temporarily closed after the check. 53 administrative cases were sent to the courts: 23 establishments were closed for 30-90 days, one was fined a thousand rubles, another 29 cases were not considered.
