Soldiers of the Russian Guard will be equipped with video recorders

The fighters of the Russian Guard will be equipped with video recorders: they will record mass events and special operations, told Viktor Zolotov, head of the service, TASS. It is possible that camera footage will be used to identify participants in protest rallies.

• Zolotov noted that technical innovations currently require "careful study both in financial and economic terms, and in legal terms." He did not even name the approximate cost of such an innovation.
• Video recorders can also be used by security forces to deanonymize protesters: according to videos on social networks, security officials, for example, have already identified a large couple who took children with them to the rally.
• Equipping security forces with cameras could lead to Chinese practice: protesters in Hong Kong are now actively fighting the already existing cameras on smart poles around the city, as well as covering their faces and carrying laser pointers to illuminate the cameras on the streets.
