In the Irkutsk region, on the island of Olkhon in Baikal, local activists established a bust of President Vladimir Putin in order to draw his attention to restricting their rights.
On the pedestal under the bust, the inscriptions “Guarantor of the Constitution” and “Freedom Kopylov ” were made.
The authors of the action noted that the inhabitants of the coast of Baikal "are actually discriminated against the fact that they live in the Baikal natural territory."
“We cannot freely dispose of our abilities to work, obtain land for the burial of loved ones, choose a kind of activity, our constitutional right to economic activity is limited, there is no way to officially register our homes, rent land plots and much more,” the appeal says.
