Russian conscripts were allowed to voluntarily refuse a deferment from military service

Amendments to the rules for conscription into the army came into force in Russia. The corresponding document is posted on the official portal of legal information.

Now conscripts who have been granted a deferment from military service have the right to refuse it and go to serve. To do this, they just need to write an application to the military registration and enlistment office.

In particular, the innovations will affect citizens who have an academic degree and full-time students of bachelor's, specialist's or master's programs. Changes are also provided for siblings and sons of those who died in connection with the performance of military duties while serving or being at military training camps.
