One of the creators of the game Night in the Woods, Alec Holowka, has died. His sister wrote about this on Twitter.
The developer's sister did not specify the cause of death, noting only that Kholovka had struggled with personality disorder his entire life. Based on her post, many specialized media outlets and gamers concluded that it was suicide.
- In late August, game developer Zoe Quinn, one of the main figures in Gamergate , accused Holowka of raping her and holding her in his apartment against her will. Holowka's sister, in a separate post, urged fans not to harass Zoe Quinn.
- Following Quinn's accusations, the Night in the Woods co-writers announced they were ending their collaboration with Holowka.
- Night in the Woods was released in 2017. The game received high reviews from critics and was nominated for a number of prestigious awards, such as the Golden Joystick Awards and Game Awards.
