ShiES: activists called for participation in the Unified Day of Ecological Protest

Participants in the Ecological Movement "Pomoria - NOT DOCK" announced a large -scale protest against the construction of a garbage training ground near the ShIES station in the Arkhangelsk region. This was reported in public traffic publics.

"On September 22, protests against the import of waste from Moscow and the Moscow Region and the associated construction in the area of the Shies station will be held throughout Russia and even abroad," the statement said.

Activists are sure that the garbage training ground in Shies will significantly affect the ecology of not only settlements located on the banks of the River Vychegda and North Dvina, but also to the entire Euroarctic region. A single protest day, according to the organizers, should push the authorities to refuse to storage and burn garbage.

Earlier it was reported that the court in Arkhangelsk fined 15 thousand rubles a participant in the inconsistent protest on April 7 against the construction of the garbage training ground at the ShiR Matofanov station. He was found guilty of violating the procedure for holding a rally and procession.

In the village of Shies, the Arkhangelsk region, the authorities are building a garbage training ground for long -term storage of solid household waste from Moscow. Residents of the region believe that the work of the landfill will lead to an environmental disaster. For more than a year, Arkhangelsk activists in Shies have been holding promotions and rallies against the garbage training ground.

According to the recently conducted Levada Center, the survey, the construction of the garbage training ground at ShIES station is not supported by 95 percent of residents of the Arkhangelsk region. The willingness to participate in protests expressed 49 percent of the sociologists surveyed.
