The court sentenced the person involved in the case initiated after the July 27 protest to 3.5 years

The Meshchansky District Court sentenced Evgenia Kovalenko, a defendant in the case initiated after the July 27 action, to three and a half years in a general regime colony. Mediazona reports this.

Kovalenko was found guilty of allegedly throwing a trash can towards a riot policeman at the rally on July 27 (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). The court considered the case in one sitting.

In her verdict, the judge emphasized as an established fact that law enforcement officers did not use batons or physical force at the July 27 rally.

• Ten defendants remained in the July 27 case. On September 3, the Investigative Committee announced the termination of the prosecution against four people - Sergei Abanichev, Vladislav Barabanov, Daniil Konon and Valery Kostenok. After some time, it became known that the case under the article on mass riots against Yegor Zhukov was terminated.
• Initially, the case was opened under the article of mass riots. Now most of the defendants are accused of using violence against government officials. The last two defendants - Eduard Malyshevsky and Nikita Chirtsov - have currently been charged only under this article.
