In the Moscow region, a court fined an environmental activist for an action against the illegal import of garbage.

The Ruza city court fined local eco-activist Marina Lazareva 10,000 rubles for an action against the importation of garbage to an illegal dump. This was reported on the page of the group of activists in VKontakte.

The action for which Lazareva was fined took place on May 29, 2019. Then the residents of the villages adjacent to the landfill blocked the road for KAMAZ trucks transporting car tires to an illegal landfill.

2 months after the action, protocols were drawn up against Lazareva under articles on organizing an uncoordinated event (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and on blocking a section of the road (article 20.18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

The court dismissed the case on blocking a section of the road due to the absence of an event of an offense and the expiration of the statute of limitations, but fined the activist 10,000 rubles in the case of organizing the event.
