Court arrests burglar who hit Ella Pamfilova with a stun gun

Moscow's Basmanny Court has arrested Bakhyt Karabalaev, the alleged burglar who broke into the home of Central Election Commission head Ella Pamfilova, for two months.

Karabalaev was charged with robbery with breaking into a home . He pleaded guilty. According to the accused, he chose Pamfilova's house by chance.

  • On the night of September 6, a burglar broke into Ella Pamfilova's country house in Istra, Moscow Region. When the head of the Central Election Commission accidentally saw him, the criminal hit her with a stun gun and fled. Pamfilova injured a finger on her hand and received a stun gun injury in the stomach area. Nothing was missing from her house.
  • The criminal was detained on September 7. It was reported that he was a native of Kazakhstan who came to Russia to earn money but lost his documents. According to an Interfax source, he broke into Pamfilova's house in search of food.
