The founder of Tsargrad, Konstantin Malofeev, left A Just Russia. He joined six months ago

The founder of the Tsargrad TV channel, businessman Konstantin Malofeev, wrote a statement about his withdrawal from the Just Russia party.

In a commentary to RBC, Malofeev said that he was leaving the party to focus on work at the World Russian People's Cathedral.

According to him, the decision to leave the party was made "not now." “But in order not to damage A Just Russia, I waited for the elections and filed an application immediately after the votes were counted,” Malofeev explained.

• Malofeev joined A Just Russia in March 2019. Initially, it was assumed that he would be the deputy head of the party, Sergei Mironov, and become one of its main sponsors. The media, including Meduza, subsequently wrote about the ideological conflict between Malofeev and other influential members of the party.
• Malofeev became widely known because of the war in the south-east of Ukraine. He was repeatedly suspected of involvement in the financing of the unrecognized Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. The businessman himself denied this.
