Twitter blocked the accounts of Raul Castro and the Communist Party of Cuba

The Twitter administration has blocked the official accounts of the Communist Party of Cuba and its leader Raul Castro. In addition, the accounts of Castro's daughter and a number of journalists from the official Cuban media were blocked.

According to Reuters, the lockdown came amid an address to the nation by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, in which he warned of an impending energy crisis due to US sanctions.

A Twitter representative, commenting on the blocking, referred to the company's policy against the manipulation of public opinion, which prohibits users from artificially displaying any topics in the top using a network of accounts.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry called Twitter's actions "an obvious concerted operation to limit the statements of revolutionaries in defense of the truth."
