Ministry of Internal Affairs of Buryatia: protesters in Ulan-Ude used tear gas

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Buryatia explained the dispersal of the rally in the center of Ulan-Ude, saying that the protesters used tear gas. Earlier it was reported that the security forces threw a smoke bomb into the bus.

The dispersal of the spontaneous protest in the police was explained by the fact that preparations had begun for holding festive events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet-Mongolian troops on the Khalkhin Gol River, which led to the restriction of the movement of personal vehicles in the area of ​​​​Soviet Square in Ulan-Ude.

“On September 12, at about 02:00, traffic police inspectors arrived at the bus parked in the pedestrian zone on Sovetov Square, in which there was a group of citizens, and warned of the need to leave the vehicle. However, the citizens ignored the lawful demands of the police officers, put up active resistance and used tear gas,” said in a statement . the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Buryatia

The police and the National Guard detained 17 people, and the bus was driven to the impound.

Earlier, Novaya Gazeta reported that on the night of September 12, employees of the Russian Guard threw a smoke bomb into the bus in which the protesters spent the night. The security forces detained the activists, who began to run out of the bus.

A spontaneous rally in Ulan-Ude began on 9 September. People demanded the release of two detained supporters of the Yakut shaman Alexander Gabyshev, who is going to Moscow to "drive the devil" out of the Kremlin. Later, supporters of the Communist Party joined them, demanding re-elections of the mayor, which were lost by the incumbent senator Vyacheslav Markhaev. During the dispersal of the action on September 10, the security forces broke the windows in the car in which Dmitry Bairov and the deputy of the People's Khural of Buryatia Bair Tsyrenov were sitting with the activists. The protesters were dragged outside, beaten and detained. The court fined Tsyrenov 15 thousand rubles. for participating in an unauthorized mass event, and Bairov was later arrested for five days, on September 12 he was added two more arrests of five days each.
