The Prosecutor General's Office is checking information about interference in the internal affairs of Russia by employees of some foreign diplomatic departments. This was stated at a meeting in the Federation Council by the head of the department’s legal department, Artur Zavalunov, reports . RIA Novosti

According to him, we are talking about “very serious information.” If it is confirmed, the Prosecutor General’s Office will take “all necessary prosecutorial response measures,” including with its “opportunities for international cooperation,” Zavalunov emphasized. He did not say which countries' diplomatic departments he meant.

On September 8, the single voting day, Roskomnadzor accused Google and Facebook of interfering in the internal affairs of Russia . According to the department, they distributed political advertising on the day of elections to the Moscow City Duma, when the placement of such advertising is prohibited by law. Google responded that it supports responsible political advertising that complies with local laws. The Russian office of Facebook emphasized that compliance with election laws is the responsibility of the advertiser.

In August, the State Duma created a commission to investigate foreign interference in the internal affairs of Russia.
