The administration of the city of Kaspiysk (Dagestan) refused to agree on a rally of the public organization "Kaspiysk is our city", scheduled for September 22. This is reported by the publication "Kavkaz. Realities".
The justification for the refusal states that, firstly, the declared site - the area near the Palace of Culture of the Dagdiesel plant - is private property. Secondly, military exercises will be held in Kaspiysk on September 22, and the police, therefore, will not be able to fully maintain order at the actions.
The protesters said they would appeal the City Hall's refusal to the city court.
Residents of Kaspiysk oppose the new development plan for the coastal part of the city. On September 11, a rally was held near the construction site of the future hotel.
We are against any construction work in this area, there should be a recreation area, a park, bike paths, a walking area, and not some hotels,
citizens commented. Arriving representatives of the developer said that work on this territory is permitted by law.
Residents of Kaspiysk intend to protest until the building plan is changed.
