
The Basmann District Court of Moscow arrested for two months (until November 16), lawyer Dagira Khasavov, who defended the defendants in cases of terrorism and extremism. The lawyer was also engaged in a criminal case, the defendants of which were officials from Dagestan.
The meeting was held closed at the request of the investigation, MBH Media reports.
Khasavov was charged with obstruction of justice (part 1 of Article 294 of the Criminal Code) and bribery or forced to testify or evade testimony (part 4 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code). The lawyer did not plead guilty.
“They saw it. There is no justice, but there is supposedly obstruction. There are no other reasons - only professional activities. I am persecuted for this, I am ready to answer for this. From this path, neither me nor those who will be behind me,” the lawyer said in court.
Khasavov was detained on September 17 in the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow during a meeting in a criminal case instituted against the ex-chairman of the government of Dagestan Abdusalam Gamidov and the ex-minister of economics and territorial development of Radudin Yusufov. The lawyer represented Yusufov's interests.
Khasavov’s colleague Eduard Isetsky said that recently there have been pressure to protect the former Dagestan officials.
The former head of government Dagestan Gamidov and his deputy Yusufov was detained in February 2018. Officials were accused of fraud and theft of budget funds. Initially, the investigation estimate at 95.8 million rubles, but then this amount increased to 1.3 billion rubles estimated the amount of damage to the budget in the leadership of the republic.
