
The Russian anthropomorphic robot Fedor (FEDOR/Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research), who returned to Earth on September 7 after spending several days on board the ISS, spoke on behalf of all robotic avatars inhabiting the Earth.
An entry appeared on Fedor’s Twitter page about the need to create “colonies of robotic avatars” to study the planets of the solar system. The robots are “ready to give their proposals on the technical appearance of a future anthropomorphic system” that can “ensure the deployment and maintenance of scientific stations in deep space,” according to a statement published on Wednesday, September 18.
The message mentions the Earth's natural satellite - the Moon. At the same time, the International Astronomical Union in 2006 gave an official definition of the concept of “planet”, which corresponds to eight celestial bodies of the Solar System - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. And the Moon is not included in this list.

At the end of August, Fedor was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) on the unmanned Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-14. We managed to dock with it on the second try. Fedor became the first Russian android mechanism on the ISS. A few days later, Soyuz MS-14 with a humanoid robot on board landed on the territory of Kazakhstan.
According to the creators, the android, which was not useful on the ISS, can later be used in areas where it is difficult or dangerous to use manual labor. It is planned to endow it with elements of artificial intelligence and use it in deep space exploration, recalls Deutsche Welle .
At the moment, the robot Fedor is in RSC Energia, it is turned on and working normally. There are no technical or mechanical problems with it, Evgeniy Dudorov, executive director of the Android Technology NPO (developer of the robot), told TASS.
“The robot turns on, why shouldn’t it turn on? When it landed, they wanted to turn it on, but most likely its battery just ran out, it worked on one battery all the time, and they thought that it turned off altogether. And when it was transported to RSC Energia, we turned everything on, checked everything, there are no problems - neither mechanical nor electronic,” Dudorov said, clarifying that the robot is now operating normally.
On Twitter, the robot also “commented” on its condition.
