In Komi, the fine for Shies’s defender was reduced

The Supreme Court of Komi halved the administrative fine for Tatyana Tretyakova, a resident of the village of Vylgort, for a solitary picket. Now Tretyakova's fine is 10,000 rubles. This was reported by the human rights organization "Public Verdict".

Tatyana Tretyakova held a solo picket on July 4 to help civil activist Antonina Pershukova raise money for a fine imposed in May by the Ust-Kulomsky District Court for organizing a picket against the construction of a solid waste landfill in Shiyes.

The police accused Tretyakova of holding a “public event without notifying the authorized authority” (part 1 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) under the pretext that Antonina Pershukova was near the picketer for some time, for whom donations were collected.

“It is a pity that the Komi courts also found their own judge Krivoruchko. There are no circumstances that can justify in the European Court of Human Rights, where Tatyana Tretyakova’s complaint will be filed, a huge fine for a depressive Komi hinterland for a microscopic picket in a small village, ”commented the decision, defending Tretyakov, the lawyer of the Public Verdict, Ernest Mezak.

• Since August 2018, protests have been regularly held near the Shies station in the Arkhangelsk region, as well as in Arkhangelsk itself and in Syktyvkar. Local residents oppose the construction of a landfill for municipal solid waste, where, according to plans, Moscow garbage should be taken out.
