Lawyer Alan Gamazov said that the Investigative Committee intends to petition for an extension of the detention of Alexei Minyailo, a person involved in the case of mass riots in Moscow.
The head of the human rights group "Agora" Pavel Chikov wrote about this in his Telegram channel. Minyailo's detention expires on September 27. He is the only one arrested in connection with participation in mass riots.
Representatives of non-profit organizations issued an open letter in support of Alexei Minyailo, Director of Happiness for the partners of the project for the socialization of children “Podden” and volunteer candidate for deputy Lyubov Sobol.
“Having been an employee and volunteer of charitable and socially oriented organizations for many years, including being responsible for financial processes, Alexey has shown his integrity in matters of compliance with current legislation. <…> Commitment to legal and non-violent methods of resolving conflict situations confirms Alexey’s entire impeccable track record,” the letter says.
More than 320 NPO employees have already signed the letter.
In early August, the court sent Minyailo to a pre-trial detention center on charges of rioting at an uncoordinated rally in Moscow on July 27. According to the investigation, “on July 27, participants in an uncoordinated action, being in the center of Moscow, ignoring the legitimate demands of government officials, grossly violating public order, used violence against government officials, broke through the cordon and, entering the roadway, paralyzed the movement of vehicles on the Garden Ring in Moscow, and also committed other illegal actions.”
