European low-cost airlines Ryanair, EasyJet and WizzAir have applied for flights from Pulkovo Airport. This was reported to RBC by Leonid Sergeev, general director of the Pulkovo operator company "Air Gates of the Northern Capital".
In August, low-cost airlines provided plans for route networks for flights from Pulkovo. Airlines plan to operate flights from the airport all year round.
According to Sergeyev, the interest of low-cost airlines is connected with the initiative of the Pulkovo operator to open the seventh degree of "air freedom" at the airport, which allows airlines to carry out transportation to third countries without landing in the country of registration. The proposal was recently supported by Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov.
