The World Athletics Association (IAAF) has extended the period of disqualification of the All-Russian Athletics Federation.

“The Council unanimously decided that the All-Russian Athletics Federation cannot be reinstated at the moment,” said Rune Andersen, head of the IAAF working group on the restoration of the ARAF. He did not elaborate on the details of the decision.

Thus, athletes from the Russian team will not be able to compete under the national flag at the World Championships in Qatar, which will be held from September 27 to October 6.

• ARAF membership has been suspended since 2015. Because of this, Russian athletes missed, in particular, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
• On September 23, it became known that WADA suspected the Russian Anti-Doping Agency of fraud with samples submitted between 2012 and 2015. If the suspicions are confirmed, this threatens RUSADA with disqualification, due to which all Russian athletes may miss the 2020 Games.
