The head of Zaksa recognized his intervention in the election

The speaker of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Makarov said he intervened in the process of holding municipal elections in the city for the victory of candidates from United Russia. He said this at a briefing on September 25, writes Interfax.

- Of course, I agree that I intervened in these elections. I did not just intervene, I am still the head of the regional branch of the United Russia party. I represent United Russia. And the goal of any party is to conquer power, the retention of power and the use of power. In these municipal elections, all parties fought and fought. And, of course, I, representing the United Russia party, did everything so that the candidates of the United Russia party won these municipal elections. <...> We will leave emotional expressions beyond the brackets, but I am proud that United Russia achieved such a high result in St. Petersburg.

Thus, Makarov responded to the words of the head of the CEC Ella Pamfilova that he made a “ direct intervention ” in the municipal elections in St. Petersburg.

Elections in St. Petersburg were held against the backdrop of mass reports of violations both during voting and when counting votes. According to preliminary results, more than half of the places in municipal councils were taken by representatives of United Russia.

Earlier, the head of the Yabloko campaign headquarters in St. Petersburg, Maxim Katz claimed that in the Petrograd district, opposition candidates had problems with registration in connection with the influence of Vyacheslav Makarov.

Makarov also holds the position of secretary of the St. Petersburg branch of the United Russia party.
