The landing gear of a Boeing that crash-landed in Barnaul caught fire

The Boeing plane, which crash- landed at German Titov Airport in Barnaul on September 25, caught fire in its landing gear. The number of victims increased to 56 people, TASS was informed by the West Siberian Transport Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The right landing gear of an Azur Air airliner flying from the Vietnamese city of Cam Ranh to Barnaul caught fire during landing. The plane was able to slow down on the runway, and the smoke was cleared. Passengers were evacuated via inflatable slides. There were a total of 344 people on board: 334 passengers and 10 crew members.

Another passenger wrote on Instagram that the plane “landed very roughly” the first time, after which it immediately took off and circled over the airport. After landing and stopping the plane, the flight attendants began shouting for everyone to go to the emergency exits. “There was a crush and panic, the men were disappointed and jumped out first,” she said.

The Barnaul Transport Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation are conducting an investigation into the incident.

In August, a Ural Airlines plane collided with a flock of birds during takeoff. The pilots crash- landed the airliner into a corn field. Everyone on board survived. The pilots were awarded the title of Heroes of Russia.
