Political strategist Pyotr Miloserdov, who served a sentence of two and a half years in a general regime colony under the article on creating an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code), was released. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
As Miloserdov himself notes, he actually spent a year and 8 months in the colony, since the days spent in the pre-trial detention center during the investigation were counted toward the prison term of “a day and a half.” Miloserdov is sure that he was sentenced to this term for refusing to give false testimony against Alexander Potkin (Belov).
Pyotr Miloserdov was detained on January 24, 2018. According to investigators, he, together with nationalist Alexander Potkin (Belov), created an extremist community, whose members planned to overthrow the government in Kazakhstan. The investigation declared two texts allegedly authored by Miloserdov and Potkin as evidence: “Angry Kazakh” and “Tentative plan of events for the preparation of actions on December 16” (Independence Day of Kazakhstan).
Miloserdov claimed that Potkin ordered from him a political research study and an expert report on the situation in Kazakhstan, for which he interviewed local public figures for five days.
