The Tushinsky District Court of Moscow partially upheld the claim of the Armenia restaurant against nine opposition politicians and awarded a fine of 241,520 rubles. Mediazona reported this from the courtroom.
According to the representative of “Armenia”, due to the accumulation of protesters at the uncoordinated rally on July 27, the restaurant “was forced to suspend its activities” for the entire day, canceled the banquet and received less income. The lawsuit was addressed to nine independent politicians whom the plaintiff considered to be the organizers of the action: Alexei Navalny, Georgy Alburov, Navalny’s headquarters coordinator Oleg Stepanov, as well as unregistered candidates for the Moscow City Duma Alexander Solovyov, Ilya Yashin, Yulia Galyamina, Lyubov Sobol, Ivan Zhdanov, Vladimir Milov. The amount of the claim was 551,847 rubles 40 kopecks of income (of which 155,495 rubles was the average Saturday income of the restaurant, and 396,352 rubles was the cost of the canceled banquet).
From the testimony at the trial it follows that the management of “Armenia”, based on information from the media about the action, suspended the work of the institution. The lawyers argued that the restaurant had no reason to fear for the safety of the establishment, in particular due to the large concentration of police officers on Tverskaya, and that the cost of the menu for the canceled banquet was unreasonable.
