President Vladimir Putin dismissed the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Gennady Kornienko. The decree was published on the official legal information portal.

Several media outlets announced Kornienko’s resignation on October 1. The reason for the resignation was that the official had reached the age limit for being in the civil service - he was 65 years old. Kornienko headed the service for more than seven years.
