Instagram Launches Threads Messenger. It Only Allows You to Chat with a List of “Close Friends”

Instagram has introduced a standalone messaging app, Threads.

In Threads, Instagram users can only communicate with subscribers from the "close friends" list and send them stories in two clicks. The app also allows you to create group chats and statuses.

It is noted that after installing Threads, messages from “close friends” will continue to be displayed in the Direct tab on Instagram.

The new messenger officially launches worldwide on October 3.

• Threads testing was announced in August 2019. A few months earlier, Instagram stopped working on its separate messaging app Instagram Direct.
