The Tyumen Regional Court upheld the two-year suspended sentence imposed on journalist Yulia Batalova for “use of violence against police officers” (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). This is reported by Novaya Gazeta.

Yulia Batalova noted that she was going to appeal this decision. The court denied the defense all petitions and did not watch the video recording of the detention.

In February, the Leninsky District Court of Tyumen sentenced Yuliya Batalova to two years of probation and two years of probation, which includes a “curfew” and presence at the place of residence from 22:00 to 06:00.
At the end of May 2018, Batalova was rudely detained by several police officers when she came to Police Station No. 5 in connection with another criminal case. The video recordings from the cameras show that her hands were rudely twisted and taken back to the department. The arriving ambulance team recorded bruises in Batalova's shins and chest, sprains of muscles and ligaments in the cervical spine. In the department, a protocol was drawn up against her under the article on disobedience to a police officer (19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
After the detention, Yulia Batalova filed a complaint against the policemen who detained her. They, in turn, filed a response, which eventually reached the court. According to the testimonies of the police officers whom Batalova allegedly harmed, the woman beat them with her hands and feet on the body and limbs, and also scratched the left hand of one of them.
