The resignation of Kornienko became known on October 1, but the Kremlin did not confirm it, citing the absence of Putin's decree. Kommersant wrote that Kornienko filed a report a month ago.
Applicants for the position of the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service were named the head of the technical support department of the Federal Penitentiary Service Vadim Balanin, who previously worked in the FSB; Deputy Head of the National Guard Oleg Plokhoy; Deputy Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Valery Maksimenko.
