The court arrested all the Russian property of the founder of the Baring Vostok investment fund Michael Calvey in Russia and the apartments of the relatives of the defendants in his criminal case, Interfax reports , citing the defense representative of the founder of the organization.
“Seven months after the arrest, in the absence of any active investigative actions, the court decided to seize the apartments in which the wives and minor children of our colleagues live until they can financially support their family,” the agency was told.
“A& Vagan Abgaryan, Ivan Zyuzin and Maxim Vladimirov are sitting in a pre-trial detention center without the right to visit their families.”
Calvey's lawyer, Dmitry Kletochkin, added that the defense intends to appeal the arrest: "In my opinion, formally there are no obstacles to recognizing and enforcing the court's decision somewhere, but no one will deal with this."
Michael Calvey and five of his business partners were arrested in February in connection with the theft of 2.5 billion rubles from Vostochny Bank. The head of the fund was accused of allegedly convincing a bank shareholder in 2017 to accept securities at an inflated cost from PKB as a debt.
It was in connection with the deal on IFTG securities that Calvey was detained on suspicion of fraud and sent to the Matrosskaya Tishina special unit, from where he was released under house arrest only in April. He himself linked the charges to a corporate conflict at the bank.
