The Moscow City Court upheld the sentence of Vladislav Sinitsa

The Moscow City Court upheld the verdict against Vladislav Sinitsa, who was found guilty under the article on inciting hatred or hostility with the threat of violence (part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code). It is reported by Mediazona.

Sinitsa was sentenced to five years in prison for a tweet about the children of security forces.

The lawyer of the international human rights group "Agora" Denis Tikhonov, acting as the defender of Sinitsa, demanded that the verdict be canceled and the case returned to the court of first instance. He is sure that the guilt of his client has not been proven, and the case can be terminated on exonerating grounds.

The prosecutor did not agree with the position of the defense and asked the court to leave the verdict unchanged. He stated that Sinitsa's guilt was fully proven, and the court of first instance made a just decision.

• On August 3, Vladislav Sinitsa was detained at a protest action and interrogated on the case of inciting hatred or enmity. Two days later, Sinitsa was taken into custody in a pre-trial detention center. According to investigators, a blogger on Twitter, which he maintains under the nickname "Max Steklov", published a record calling for violent acts against the children of security forces. In the tweet itself, the author suggested that unknown people could harm the children of the security forces who dispersed the rallies. At the same time, he did not specify how they could harm, did not name the people in question, and did not call on anyone to commit such actions.
• On July 27 and August 3 in Moscow, and on August 10 also in forty other cities of Russia, actions were held in support of unregistered candidates for the Moscow City Duma. The actions were accompanied by mass detentions and violence by the security forces.
