In Smolensk, a protocol was drawn up against a member of the Libertarian Party for disrespect for state symbols

In Smolensk, a member of the Libertarian Party was charged with disrespect for state symbols because of a post with the flag of Russia. This was reported to OVD-Info by the press secretary of the LPR Daria Petrushenko.

In the morning, a district police officer came to the hostel to a young man whose name is not specified. The activist was questioned about the repost on the social network of a picture with the Russian flag and the inscriptions “Let’s make Pechersk great again” and “Ready to become a deputy of your garbage”, after which a protocol was drawn up against him under part 3 of Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disrespect for the authorities, state symbols, society). In addition, according to the press secretary of the LPR, the police intend to look for the author of the original publication.

• On March 18, President Vladimir Putin signed a law on disrespect for the state on the Internet. For the first offense under this law, a fine of 30 to 100 thousand rubles is provided.
• According to the human rights organization Apology of Protest, in the first six months, 45 cases were opened under this article in 23 regions and fines were imposed in the amount of 845,000 rubles. 78% of statements are dedicated to President Vladimir Putin.
