Alexander Kalashnikov was appointed the new director of the Federal Penitentiary Service, according to the department’s website.
From 2011 to 2017, Kalashnikov headed the FSB department for Komi, and after that - the FSB department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
On October 3, President Vladimir Putin fired the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Gennady Kornienko, who held this position for more than seven years. The media wrote that the resignation was due to the director’s age limit for the civil service - he was 65 years old.
