In Omsk they refused to initiate a case against a local human rights activist for insulting a judge

The investigative department of the ICR for the Omsk region refused to initiate a case against local human rights activist Valentin Kuznetsov for insulting a judge (Article 297 of the Criminal Code). This is reported on the Open Omsk website.

The application to initiate a criminal case was filed by the judge of the Central District Court of Omsk, Mikhail Safronov. During one of the meetings, Kuznetsov challenged Safronov with the following wording: “due to the fact that the presiding officer in the case is allegedly an official of the judicial branch of power, is a corrupt official, fulfills the will of the colonialists who usurped the country and destroy the people, is a collaborator and enemy of the people” .

In refusing to open a criminal case, the investigator, citing an expert, emphasized that the said words of Kuznetsov, although they contain “signs of humiliation of human dignity”, but at the same time “do not belong to an indecent form of statements”. For this reason, an employee of the Investigation Department found no grounds for bringing the human rights activist to justice.
