Google predicted victory over Apple in the race for 5G

Google has begun testing a 5G-enabled smartphone, it will likely be shown on October 15th. It is reported by the Nikkei.

• According to Nikkei, the Pixel (Google's own brand) smartphone, which will be equipped with a Snapdragon 855 processor, will work with 5G.
• If the Pixel 5G doesn't show up on October 15th, it will happen in the spring of 2020. Even so, in the race for the next generation smartphone, Google will overtake Apple, writes Nikkei.
• iPhone 5G is expected in September 2020.
• The next generation Pixel is being tested in China, but Google will move production to Vietnam, the publication clarifies. The assembly plant will be selected by the end of 2019.

As The Verge adds , 5G networks are still largely undeveloped, so there is little hype among users around such devices. For Google, however, getting ahead of Apple with a 5G smartphone is a good opportunity to draw attention to its phones.

The Pixel has less than 0.5% of the smartphone market, according to Nikkei. In 2019, Google expects to ship 10 million devices. In Russia, Pixel, like the previous Google smartphone called Nexus, is not officially sold - you can buy only "gray" devices.
