A criminal case was instituted on the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region of Dubrovsky. The defendant was already hiding in Switzerland

The Investigative Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs accepted a criminal case against the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region Boris Dubrovsky. He is suspected of abuse of authority, and the damage in the case of the theft of budget funds is estimated in the amount of more than 20 billion rubles, TASS reports with reference to the lawyer Igor Trunov.

"In relation to the ex -governor of Dubrovsky, a criminal case was opened under part 2 of article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (" abuse of official powers committed by a person holding the state position of the Russian Federation or the state position of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation "). Damage to the theft of budget funds is more than 20 billion rubles," the lawyer said.

The case against the ex-governor accepted the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for production, since Dubrovsky is no longer a special-subject. The period of incriminated acts to the ex-official dates back to 2016-2018. Earlier, a source familiar with the case file reported TASS that Dubrovsky disappeared from the investigation in Switzerland. "Boris Dubrovsky disappeared from the investigation in Switzerland," the agency’s interlocutor said.

Boris Dubovsky headed the Chelyabinsk region since January 2014, in March 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted his resignation. From 2011 to 2014, Dubrovsky was the general director of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant.
