A court in Moscow dismissed the case against the Fergana news agency

In Moscow, the world court dismissed the case against the editor-in-chief of the Fergana news agency under the article on abuse of freedom of the mass media (part 2 of article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to the editor-in-chief of Ferghana Maria Dubnova.

The protocol against the agency was drawn up by employees of Roskomnadzor. In their opinion, Fergana did not indicate in one of the publications that the Turkmen Jehovah's Witness Society was banned in Russia. The court dismissed the case due to the absence of corpus delicti.

As Daniil Kislov, General Director of the agency, said in a conversation with MBKh Media, this society is not on the official list of organizations recognized as extremist in Russia.

“This is utter nonsense, and we tried to explain it verbally and in writing. Stupidity, because there is a list of banned organizations, which is published on the website of the Ministry of Justice, and it is the Turkmen Jehovah's Witnesses Society that is not on this list. Roskomnadzor did not heed our arguments and forwarded the case to the Magistrate's Court," Kislov said.

• On September 30, Roskomnadzor blocked access to the Ferghana website, while the department's employees did not even explain to the agency the reasons for blocking. Thanks to the project to monitor the blocking of Internet resources, Roskomsvoboda "Fergana" found out the reason for the blocking and eliminated it, after which the site was unblocked .
• On October 7, Roskomnadzor again added Fergana to the list of banned sites and blocked access to the agency's website. The reason for the blocking was a February article on the publication's website about the fall of a migrant onto the rails in the subway.
• The Fergana news agency, which has existed since 1998, has been blocked in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Now the blocking is valid only in Turkmenistan.
