Baikal: Putin's bust on Olkhon was demolished in protest

A bust of President Vladimir Putin, recently installed on the Baikal Island, was taken away from Olkhon. By this, local residents disagreed with the verdict of the former mayor of the Olkhonsky district Sergey Kopylov, IRK.ru reported.

At the end of August, in the village of Khuzhir on Olkhon, activists installed Putin's bust. So they wanted to draw the attention of the head of state to limit their rights and the fact that his instructions were not fulfilled. The bust was hoisted on a pedestal on which the “guarantor of the Constitution” and “Freedom Kopylov” was written.

Participants in the sculpture installation said that the bust would be used for direct appeals by the residents of the Olkhonsky district to Vladimir Putin, since there were no other ways to ensure that activists have no left.

On September 30, a thousand inhabitants of the Irkutsk region entered a rally in support of the ex-mayor of the Olkhonsky district Sergey Kopylov. Participants of the action protested against the sentence Kopylov in the criminal case of abuse of authority.
