Scientists proposed to irradiate eggs by electron for disinfection

Russian scientists have developed a new method of superficial disinfection of chicken eggs based on irradiation by a beam of electrons. This effect is effective for disinfecting the shell and does not cause changes in protein and yolk.

One of the main problems of poultry farming is infectious diseases, especially caused by bacteria, for example, salmonellosis. Both birds and people suffer from infections.

Researchers suggested irradiation of packaged chicken eggs with a nanoso -junk bundle of electrons. Electrons and active forms of oxygen, primarily ozone formed from the air, jointly cause the death of microorganisms. The procedure avoids secondary pollution, while the egg retains surface sterility throughout the entire storage period.

Experts have found that for complete disinfection, it is necessary to submit 25 pulses of electrons with a total dose of 5 Kilrarey. With this effect, the absorbed dose in the protein will not lead to changes in biological tissues.

The chickens hatched from disinfected eggs were healthy, active and well developed. At the same time, the time of excretion was reduced by six hours.

The study was attended by employees of the Ural State Agrarian University, the Institute of Electrophysics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ural Federal University and the Ural Research of the Veterinary Institute.
