The POC revealed gross violations of the conditions of detention of new defendants in the “Moscow case”

The Public Monitoring Commission (POC) revealed gross violations of the conditions of detention of new defendants in the "Moscow case". This was reported to OVD-Info by the executive secretary of the POC Ivan Melnikov.

According to Melnikov, when checking the temporary detention center in the North-Eastern District of Moscow, which contained four detainees in the "Moscow case", the PMC established the facts of the joint detention of people with multiple convictions and no convictions. “For example, Yegor Lesnykh is being held in a cell with two cellmates, one of whom not only has previous convictions, but is HIV-positive, and is also registered in a psychoneurological dispensary, and the second has previously been convicted 11 times,” said the POC representative. In addition, Lesnykh complained of an allergy to tobacco smoke, as well as a lack of walks.

He also noted that Vladimir Yemelyanov's cellmate had previously been tried 8 times, and was currently detained on suspicion of robbery. The second "neighbor" is convicted twice for theft. And Andrey Barshay's cellmate, according to him, was HIV-positive, he was later resettled. At the same time, as Melnikov said, a third of the cells in the temporary detention center were empty.

The detainees also complained about the cold and draft in the cells due to the windows that did not close. Melnikov added that members of the PMC did not find manufacturing markings on the containers with food given to the detainees, which is also a violation.

According to a representative of the PMC, all violations were recorded and information about them "will be sent to the leadership of the Moscow Central Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, in whose jurisdiction this isolator is located."

• In connection with the Moscow rally on July 27 for fair elections, during the dispersal of which the police detained at least 1,373 people, a criminal case was opened under articles on mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence against government officials (Article 318 of the Criminal Code). Until recently, 15 defendants in the case were known. However, on October 14, it became known about 6 more defendants.
