Two new experimental samples are made of wood fiber obtained from eco -resistant sources and have an internal barrier layer that allows bottles to hold beer inside. One sample has a layer of a thin processed polymer film PET, and the other from a PEF polymer film at a 100%bio-zone. Introducing innovation in packaging, the company seeks to 30% reduce the carbon trace of finished products by 2030.
Carlsberg is searching for a solution to create a bottle fully produced from environmentally friendly materials without the use of polymers. Samples will be used to test new barrier technology, which in the future will abandon plastic in the production of bottles. Before completely introducing innovation, Carlsberg will carry out a pilot launch in the markets of a number of countries in order to further develop and test.
“We continue to introduce innovations on all packaging formats and are satisfied with today's progress in the development of an eco -fiber bottle. We have not yet reached the task, but both samples are an important step towards the ultimate goal to enter the market with a revolutionary novelty. Innovations take time, and we will continue to cooperate with leading experts to solve the remaining technical problems, what we have already done when we decided to reduce Snappack plastic, ”said Miriam Shingleton, Vice President of Carlsbergroop.
The Greenfiberbottle project was launched by Carlsberg in 2015, together with EcoXPAC innovation experts, the BillerDkorsnäs packaging company and doctors of the Danish Technical University with the support of the Denmark’s innovative fund. Paboco, that is, PaperbottleCompany, was created to study innovation in the field of packaging. The new bottle combines the most modern pulsed drying technologies and materials science that allows you to produce a strong, but light bottle based on eco -fiber.
Now CoCa-Cola, Absolut and L'Oréal will join Carlsberg, which will enter a community based on the development of the concept of a paper bottle. The community unites the leading world companies and experts in order to create eco -resistant packaging, offering high -quality products, but reducing the environmental impact.
In Russia, the Baltika brewed company, which is part of the Carlsberggroup, also introduces a number of innovations in the package, thanks to which it is possible to minimize the negative impact on the environment. In 2018, the company changed the composition of the raw materials for the production of PETs to reduce the carbon trace. Baltika uses cardboard packaging from secondary processing materials and glass bottles of smaller weight, which also helps to reduce CO2 emissions due to a decrease in the load on the finished product transportation system.
