Boris Ignatovich (1899-1976)-master of documentary photography, reporter, movie operator, journalist and teacher, founder of photojournalism, one of the pioneers of the Soviet avant-garde of the 1920s-1930s, a member of the legendary group “Oktyabr”-the All-Russian association of new types of artistic work, which included Alexander Rodchenko, Alexander Deineka, Sergey Eisenstein, Alexander Vesnin.
“The exhibition at Mamm demonstrates more than 70 works by Ignatovich related to the brightest, avant -garde period of his work,” the museum said in a statement.
“It is known that Ignatovich became famous for his angles, the“ staff package ”and, of course, close -ups,” the organizers of the exhibition are quoted by Claudius Ignatovich, the artist’s wife. - His credo: nothing superfluous in the frame and an interesting shooting point. He carefully cried his pictures already during the shooting and very rarely-when printing ... He said: "We are building a new life and must shoot in a new way!" Ignatovich's students have firmly learned his science: "pack and mate," that is, perform a diagonal composition in the frame. "
The exhibition of Boris Ignatovich in Mamm (curator - Anna Zaitseva) will last until January 26, 2020 .
