The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called Novaya Gazeta's information that high-ranking officials and security officials from his entourage were sent to "secret prisons" and tortured "fictions". It is reported by Interfax.

“These inventions are off scale. Their authors know that this is a thousand percent lie! But they write and write,” Kadyrov said, speaking at a meeting in Grozny. He believes that "certain forces and the media serving them" are conducting a campaign designed to create a negative image of Chechnya and its leadership.

Kadyrov also called reports that he was seriously ill disinformation.
