In defense of powerlessness.

In a country where the majority of the population approves of the death penalty, murder is already acceptable.

With the prefix bez, a special class of words is formed, sometimes having a detrimental effect on both the psyche and the mental state of a person. Words such as heartless or immortal are so easy to juggle, manipulating people.

Here is immortality. This concept is meaningless. It has a meaning - "eternal life without death", but it does not make any sense, because there is not a single proof of such a possibility. The entire solar system is mortal. Among Christians, even God has died and is not shown, what can we say about people.

On the day of the 60th anniversary of Boris Nemtsov, who was killed in 2015 near the Kremlin, some people dropped proud words about his immortality. Meanwhile,

we know perfectly well that all this is a beautiful lie, a poetic exaggeration: a tongue without bones.

Like, yes, you didn’t drive away the memory of him from our hearts: more and more new videos with his participation are posted on the Web. Very recent or very early interviews, from which one can form an increasingly reliable opinion about this politician, including about whom he could not please, how close to death he walked in recent years. But from death, not from immortality. Someone will say that the immortals were, rather, those who ordered his murder. But they, too, from the false formula "the mafia is immortal" were born, I think, vain illusions.

Why, after the assassination of Boris Nemtsov and Anna Politkovskaya, Natalya Estemirova and Galina Starovoitova, there was no general indignation in the Russian Federation? Why did so few become impotent indignation?

It seems to me that this happened for one unpleasant reason. And those who were not indignant, who did not take to the streets, and those who went out and were indignant, are united in the fact that Nemtsov and Politkovskaya, Estemirova and Starovoitova were not just killed, but executed. In a country that has a moratorium on the death penalty, but where the majority of the population seems to favor the lifting of the moratorium, such execution-murders are already acceptable. Supporters of the death penalty allow their state this form of self-defense and even foreign policy.

If a nationwide referendum not only returns the death penalty, but also sentences all the opponents of the death penalty to it as clear enemies of the people, we, these opponents and enemies, will be completely powerless to do anything against such a decision. People are powerless to change the views of modern Russian society on this subject.

Interestingly, many supporters of the death penalty seem to believe in the immortality of the soul. This is very common: religious people who believe that the executed go to some kind of correctional institution, for example, to purgatory, and little by little will either return to this world renewed, or go straight to paradise.

True, they want to execute bad people not in order to send them to heaven, but for an exemplary final punishment.

The believers have no way out of this contradiction. They feed on the power of their faith.

Everyone else is left to realize their powerlessness.

But what then to do? Only a talker can call Osip Mandelstam immortal, whose poems were saved from oblivion by Nadezhda Mandelstam. The memory and even the mass distribution of these verses did not make either these verses or the murdered poet himself immortal. Out of impotence, only the resistance of memory was born. Europeans learned less from the outcome of the World War than from the mistakes that the victors made when they executed many Nazi criminals en masse. If these people were in prison, if they were interrogated - from year to year, from decade to decade - the world, science, the school would learn a lot of things that after the execution went with them into the darkness, and now they are giving new ones out of the darkness. seedlings.

Realizing your powerlessness to change the circumstances of life, you find a loophole in your memory. Very weak. Maybe hopeless.

Man is mortal, there are no more executed in a covert way. The state's hands are still tied. But from these bonds it is suspiciously easy to free them. Without even testing the language for flexibility, because there are so many beautiful old words for renaming - "the highest measure of social protection" and "an exceptional measure of punishment." So take care of your impotence - it will still be useful to you.
