The House of Commons of the British Parliament voted for an amendment by MP Oliver Letwin, according to which Brexit will be delayed even if the UK Parliament approves a new deal.
322 deputies voted for the amendment, 306 voted against. Thus, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is obliged to ask the EU to delay Brexit by at least three months.
Johnson said next week the government will introduce the EU exit laws required by the Letvin Amendment. He hopes that Parliament will then support the Brexit deal.
Earlier this week, the EU and the UK reached a new Brexit deal. According to the agreements, the UK will have to comply with current EU regulations until at least the end of 2020, as well as pay a £33 billion release clause.
