- It makes sense to get to the user in the most convenient way for him. Previously, the copyright holders, roughly speaking, thinking that they will be able to extract excessive benefits, in every possible way limited the availability of this or that content for users. Therefore, at first “torrents” appeared, and they were quite convenient and turned out to be more convenient than going to buy a ticket to the cinema or wait 3-4 months (how many copyright holders withstand) in order to get something on DVD. And then go to the store and buy it DVD. “Torrents” allowed users to quickly access the content. Unfortunately, perhaps not the most profitable way for the copyright holder.
Then, if you recall the story, legal cinemas appeared. We have Apple, Netflix, HBO and so on. They provided and provide access to a certain amount of content for reasonable money.
Then, of course, the “torrents” developed in online cinemas, because people began to get used to using online services. And there was someone who provided access to the content in the most convenient way for the user. Let by monetizing this with an advertisement. These cinemas were used to watch content on which copyright holders imposed tough restrictions. There were optional main films.
There were rare films, series that Western copyright holders did not sell to Russia and it is impossible to watch them in the Russian cinema or in Russian on the Internet legally.
There were simply those who provided more convenient access to the widest masses of users, given their interests, and not the interests of copyright holders.
Accordingly, now the closure of the service in Holland will lead to the fact that it will open somewhere else. They closed one - another will appear. Here they closed the service that gave the content [online cinema]. Because the online cinemas themselves worked and continue to work like a showcase, and the content itself is saved in another place. Some online cinemas, of course, began to experience problems, but after some time they will certainly find a new method of delivery. And here no information security gurus will help.
It is necessary to change the approach to the so -called intellectual property and more significantly protect consumers, and not Hollywood distributors and wholesale sellers who make money on content under the guise of copyright protection.
