Russia extradited crime boss Tariel Oniani to Spain

Crime boss Tariel Oniani (Mulukhov, Taro), who served a ten-year sentence in Russia, has been extradited to Spain.

“Today he was delivered to Sheremetyevo International Airport named after A.S. Pushkin and handed over to representatives of Spanish law enforcement agencies,” official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk announced on October 23.

• Oniani was put on the wanted list by Spain through Interpol on charges of involvement in a criminal group involved in extortion and theft of art objects.
• Oniani had Russian citizenship, so he could not be extradited to Spain. After the crime boss was deprived of Russian citizenship (it turned out that he received it with violations), this obstacle was removed.
• Oniani was called one of the most influential people in the criminal world of the post-Soviet space and the alleged mastermind of the murders of crime bosses Vyacheslav Ivankov (Yaponchik) and Aslan Usoyan (Ded Khasan). Oniani denied involvement in these murders.
• In Russia, Oniani served a sentence for the kidnapping of businessman Johnny Minadze in Moscow in 2009. He was released from the colony in April 2019 and a few hours later was again taken into custody for deportation from Russia.
