The court arrested a suspect in the theft of Sberbank client data

A court in Volgograd has arrested for two months a local resident suspected of stealing personal data of clients of Sberbank and other banks, TASS reports .

According to the investigation, Anton Buturlakin, an employee of the collection agency National Collection Service, sold personal data of bank customers on the Internet on October 17 and earned 40,000 rubles from it.

Buturlakin himself explained that the information that was published by third parties did not contain card numbers, but “there was an account and only amounts of debts that people did not pay for 5-10 years, and nothing could be done with this information.” According to him, he sold this data to a person "who is involved in bankruptcy, and planned to help these people."

The man admitted his guilt, wrote a confession and apologized to the victims. Meanwhile, the representative of the investigation stated in court that the suspect tried to escape.

Recall that at the end of September it became known about the leak of records of 60 million Sberbank credit cards. According to Kommersant, the base was sold on one of the forums on the Internet. On October 24, the media discovered another portion of the personal data of Sberbank clients on the black market.

The bank itself at first acknowledged the leak of only 200 from the Ural branch, but later spoke about the theft of data from 5 thousand customers. The credit institution conducted an internal investigation and stated that the head of the sector of one of the bank's business units, which had access to the databases, admitted to stealing information.

On October 24, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest of a person suspected of illegally obtaining and disclosing information constituting bank secrecy. It turned out to be an employee of the collection company Buturlakin, acting under the pseudonym "Anton 2131".
