The Russian Defense Ministry did not provide assistance to American aviation participating in the operation to eliminate ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, said the official representative of the Russian military department, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
Thus, Konashenkov commented on the statement of US President Donald Trump, who thanked Russia, which controls the airspace over Idlib, for its assistance in the operation to eliminate al-Baghdadi.
“The increase in the number of direct participants and countries allegedly taking part in this“ operation ”, each with absolutely contradictory details, gives rise to reasonable questions and doubts about its reality and, moreover, about its success,” Konashenkov’s statement was quoted by Interfax.
The official representative of the Ministry of Defense also said that no air strikes by American aircraft or its allies in the coalition on targets in the province of Idlib have been recorded in recent days.
In addition, Konashenkov said that if al-Baghdadi is still killed, his death will have "absolutely no operational significance for the situation in Syria."
